SUMO stands for SUper MOment of Inertia. The Nike SQ Sumo² 5900 driver uses a square head design that gives the highest MOI allowable by the rules of golf.
Both of the games ruling bodies (R&A & USGA) recently introduced a Moment Of Inertia (MOI) limit of 5900. Nike have extended their famous Powerbow technology to push this driver right to the limit, giving less clubhead twisting on off centre strikes for more accuracy.
The larger 'Powerbow' on the back of the club head adds a trailing volume of mass to apply more power and control to the ball without overstepping the 460cc legal limit.
The multi thickness face is constructed from NexTi Titanium, which is the hottest and strongest Titanium ever created for crushing distance and extra durability.
The unique design of this driver moves the centre of gravity further back in the head for a higher initial launch angle, with less spin for longer drives!
Each area of the clubhead has been refined to improve performance. A deeper face and convex composite crown have helped to increase ball speed off the face and deliver pin-point accuracy.
**This driver has a COR of 0.83 or less so it will be perfectly legal to use through 2008!**
Fitted with a top quality Diamana Yellow Board graphite shaft. Designed by Mitsubishi, these tour quality shafts are weighted specifically to maximise performance.

This club is a bargain. Replaced a taylor made R560 with this driver. Takes a range session to get used to the square head at set up, but the difference is unbelievable. Hit extremely straight and with punishing yardage with an effortless swing. Cant wait to see my handicap drop after having this in my bag for a few more rounds

Ive been a long time Taylormade R7 fan, but at a demo day I thought "why not" try the Sumo out. Yes its square, yes its not as good sounding as the R7! ...but this club is fantastic. After 2 months I have added 25 yards, hitting more fairways and reduced my handicap from 15 to 9. A truly high quality club with a really great shaft. Worth every penny...thank you Nike & DGUK. If only Nike did a square Sumo putter as well ! ;O))
