Golf legend Gary Player has backed countryman Ernie Els to win another major.
Els, nicknamed the Big Easy, has not won a showpiece event since his Open Championship triumph in 2002 and went through a three-year dry-patch before taking the Honda Classic title earlier in the year.
Now 72-year-old Player, winner of nine majors in a glittering career, says that
Callaway Golf star Els has another major left in him at the age of 39.
He told South Africa's Independent newspaper: "I've always believed that Ernie has unbelievable talent and even though his game has deteriorated, I expect him to come through and be the next South African to win a major.
"I've always felt Ernie was going to win the Masters and I'm surprised he hasn't. I can't help but feel that there's a Green Jacket waiting for him."
Els has bagged three majors - at the US Open in 1994 and 1997, as well as his sole Open title.
