Ian Poulter has potentially put his prospects of a place in the European team for the 2008 Ryder Cup in jeopardy after choosing to miss the final qualification event.
After the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, captain Nick Faldo will sit down and make his two wildcard picks.
Poulter is relying on Faldo choosing him as one of the 'lucky pair', as he currently lies outside the top five in both the European Ryder Cup Points List and the world standings.
"I have called Nick Faldo and told him of my decision and hope that my performance so far will earn one of his two wildcard picks," the 32-year-old commented.
Poulter has stuck with a continued policy of favouring US PGA Tour events over tournaments on the European Tour.
He will play in the Deutsche Bank Championship this week, a play-off event before the latter stages of the lucrative Fed-Ex Cup.
