Direct Golf UK has conducted extensive research into the customisation of golf equipment to
the individual requirements of the modern day golfer. During this research it was found that,
the swing characteristics of most golfers change depending on the individual club that is being
used. This makes the customisation of a set of golf clubs very difficult. Due to these findings,
the PGA Professionals at Direct Golf UK have developed this custom fitting system, which
measures each individual golfer for the specifications required to achieve the ideal posture,
swing plane and impact position best suited for the only constant characteristics of the golf
swing, which are the golfers height, arm length and hand size.
Most custom fitting systems are geared to the golfer addressing the ball exactly the same way
every time, together with swinging the club at the same speed every time and maintaining the
same swing plane every time. As even the top touring Professionals cannot maintain these
swing characteristics every time, it is a lot to ask for the average golfer to do the same.

Customising the clubs to position the golfer in the ideal position for his or her actual constant
characteristics will train the golfer to address the ball with the correct posture and swing along
the ideal swing plane, which all adds up to the correct impact position and better scores.
Swing speed and ball flight characteristics are also scrutinised to achieve the correct shaft
flex, kick point, loft angle and swing weight. The individual’s hand size is also important to
achieve the correct grip size.
When entering a doctors surgery you would be asked a number of questions, all which are
important for the doctor to diagnose the problem. The exact same technique is adopted by
Direct Golf UK’s Professionals.
The answers to the questions are carefully considered and used to help fine tune your golf
equipment to aid in the curing of the swing faults that have occurred by using equipment that
is not properly configured to your actual specifications.
There are 4 simple steps to follow when determining your custom fit specifications, namely shaft length, lie angle, shaft flex and grip size.
